In 2019, the Financial Education Centre of HKFWS commissioned with the Social Science Research Centre of the University of Hong Kong to conduct a study on the use of pocket money and electronic consumption among Primary four to Primary six students and and their parents. It is found that over 90% of senior primary school students and their parents have used some kind of electronic money; the higher the grade level, the greater the use of e-money. However, the financial management skills of students who use e-money keep up with their usage rate. In fact, only a few of them record their electronic consumption and they do not yet know how to allocate their pocket money appropriately.
"Electronic transactions" has become a global trend, and studies have shown that it has become a part of school children’s financial life. However, considering parents’ knowledge of e-money and schools’ financial education curriculum, there seems to be no adequate preparation for teaching children to use electronic money properly.
In view of this, FEC and Hang Seng Bank have partnered to launch the "e$mart Financial Management Kids Society", a series of financial education activities aimed at students using "electronic transactions" to equip them for the consumption of "electronic transactions" Mode, and promote an understanding of this new trend among the community.
Aims:
Main projects:
"e$mart Financial Management Kids Society" Game Day
Each student who holds an exclusive "e$marter Pass" will conduct electronic transactions in a simulated society with electronic money, allowing students to live, work, study, and save through an experiential learning model. They also learn to balance financial management in areas such as consumption and consumption, enhance their sensitivity to electronic transactions and establish healthy monetary values. After the game, students can get a "personal financial report" on this website to review the game process with parents, so that parents can continue to follow up their children's financial management capabilities.
"e$mart Wealth Management Kids Academy" Financial Management Training
Students will learn financial concepts and skills in-depth through group activities led by approved financial social workers, and understand the impact of the new generation of e-wallets and consumption patterns on personal financial concepts and behaviours, ultimately becoming the "e$marter"! In addition, students will also be taught relevant interviewing and reporting skills by professional media professionals, and apply the knowledge and concepts of financial management they have learned in campus newspapers, campus radio/TV stations or websites for interviews/shooting short films/writing news releases and other methods.
In addition, the plan also promotes financial education in a fun and interactive manner through activities such as parent financial education lectures, student financial education lectures and student financial game booths.
